Abstract

Penelitian ini menelaah Yohanes 5:18 sebagai locus penting dalam Kristologi Yohanes, khususnya terkait tuduhan bahwa Yesus “menyamakan diri dengan Allah.” Ayat ini menandai transisi dari konflik seputar hukum Sabat menuju konflik teologis yang lebih mendalam tentang identitas Yesus. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif dengan eksegesis teologis, kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa tuduhan tersebut bukan sekadar reaksi polemis, melainkan bagian dari strategi naratif Yohanes untuk menegaskan kesatuan Yesus dengan Bapa. Konflik dalam Yohanes 5:18 tidak dapat dilepaskan dari konteks monoteisme Yahudi, namun justru di dalam ketegangan itu Injil Yohanes menampilkan Kristologi yang menjadi dasar refleksi gereja mula-mula tentang relasi Bapa dan Anak. Dengan demikian, teks ini berperan sebagai fondasi teologis yang menjelaskan mengapa jalan Yesus menuju salib tidak terhindarkan, sekaligus membuka ruang bagi pengembangan doktrin Trinitas.
