Abstract

Maraknya penggunaan shofar (terompet) dalam ibadah Pentakosta kontemporer memunculkan kebutuhan untuk menelaah kembali landasan-landasan alkitabiah, teologis, dan liturgisnya. Di satu sisi, simbol ini diyakini memancarkan dimensi profetis yang memperkaya pengalaman ibadah; di sisi lain, simbol ini berpotensi menimbulkan penyimpangan seperti ritualisme, legalisme simbolis, dan bentuk-bentuk sinkretisme yang belum teruji. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk memberikan evaluasi akademis mengenai makna dan fungsi shofar, khususnya dalam konteks Keluaran 19:16 sebagai teks sentral mengenai teofani dan kehadiran Allah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji fungsi teologis shofar dalam konteks teofani Sinai serta menganalisis implikasinya bagi praktik liturgi Pentakosta kontemporer. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan teologis kualitatif, yang menggabungkan analisis teks Alkitab, tinjauan pustaka, interpretasi liturgi, dan wawancara terbatas dengan para praktisi yang menggunakan shofar dalam ibadah. Temuan-temuan ini menunjukkan tiga dimensi utama dalam Keluaran 19:16: teofani, sebagai tanda kehadiran Allah yang tak terkendali; perjanjian, sebagai panggilan menuju kekudusan; dan eklesiologis, sebagai unsur pembentuk yang membentuk respons spiritual jemaat. Dalam praktik Pentakosta kontemporer, shofar berfungsi sebagai simbol profetik tanpa memiliki kekuatan magis atau mistis apa pun secara intrinsik. Oleh karena itu, penggunaan shofar dapat memperkaya liturgi Pentakosta jika didasarkan pada pemahaman teologis yang kokoh dan dilindungi dari penyalahgunaan simbolis. Studi ini merekomendasikan pengembangan pedoman liturgi yang berakar pada hermeneutika teofanik, serta peningkatan pendidikan liturgi bagi para pelayan ibadah.
